Where could I teach my friend some DRIVING SKILLS in Los Angeles?
June 16th, 2010 | by admin |My friend is leaning how to drive so I have volunteered to teach him this coming weeks on Sundays. I am curious as to where it would be a good place to teach him some driving skills in the Los Angeles area. I know in this city the traffic is the bread and butter of our streets. Every where you turn there are cars and more cars so realstate is precious that even to practice your driving skills becomes a burden.
Could you recommend any specific area in Los Angeles?
A good parking lot, maybe an empty area or even a clear road anywhere?
We have decided Sundays since it is a bit more quiet and less traffic.
According to my friend, driving classes from the local schools only give you certain time to practice but to him is not enough.
Inglewood Park Cemetary.
The good thing about this place is that you can practice driving anytime during the day and there won’t be very many people especially on weekdays.
There is a lot of small "streets" at the cemetary, not many cars. And hey at least you can’t kill anyone.

A shopping mall after hours. Or an abandoned closed business

You will find that many people use the huge parking lot at Santa Anita racetrack, in Arcadia, during the off season.

-Parking lot at the LA Zoo
-Rose Bowl
Make sure you have your required permits, because local cops look for unlicensed drivers nowadays.

Find an industrial or office complex. Usually they are many city blocks wide, so it’s oftena good stretch of road to get up some speed. And they’re fairly empty on Sundays. That’s were I learned to drive.
